It’s necessary to have Shanghai cuisine in Shanghai.
I prefer European cuisine more so this time only tried the one located at Rock Bund in the Anpei foreign firm, Maison de L’hui (Michelin Guide 2017 – 2 fork & spoon), for Shanghai cuisine. The building was built in 1907, certainly enjoyed the old style architecture and design.
We got there at 13.30 it’s almost time for last order so the dishes all came out at the same time, better to dine early in Shanghai. Amongst all the dishes we ordered, I like the braised pork belly with beancurd sheet, the braised pork belly was sweet and delicious, very Shanghainese, and the beancurd sheet absorbed all the flavour. Another one was the pan seared Shanghai crispy pork soup bun, love the soft texture of the bun, got a lot of soup inside, and the bottom of the bun was really crispy. And for the dessert I prefer the chilled silken almond milk pudding.
Will visit again for the delicious braised pork belly.
