A visit to Three on the Bund.

Finally had the chance to visit Jean-Georges (Michelin Guide 2017 – 3 fork & spoon) after its refurbishment, the restaurant which provides French-Asian cuisine has now got a modern elegant feeling with white and beige tones.

That noon was quite quiet, we got a table reserved at the corner near the window to enjoy the stunning view of the Bund, and had the RMB$298 two courses winter set menu. The amuse bouche was alright, I had the hamachi sashimi for starter, it was quite light and appetising. The main course was the crispy confit of suckling pig, luckily the sourness from the radish and berry sauce allowed me to finish the dish (feeling full all day every day).

The good thing is I always have another stomach for desserts, tried all three desserts and of course I picked the beautiful ‘topical’ for myself, ice cold tropical fruits and pineapple sorbet within the young coconut semifreddo.  The ‘chocolate’ was too sweet for me, I guess it’s only for chocolate addicts. The ‘mont blanc’ was sweet too, but better than ‘chocolate’.

Ended the meal with tea and petit four, however the petit four was mostly chocolate, I couldn’t take it anymore.

Overall is alright, just not very impressed.

上海的法餐。

經過裝潢的Jean-Georges以白和米色為主調不失現代感,雖然是法餐,嚴格來說是加了亞洲口味改良過的法餐。當天中午挺冷清,服務員安排了靠窗的位子可以欣賞外灘的景色,很幸運有好天氣沒想到這裡看出去這麼棒。

選擇了RMB$298兩款菜餚的套餐,開胃菜還可以,前菜是鰤魚刺身,是一道挺清淡開胃的前菜。主菜是味道不錯的油封脆皮乳豬,吃了第一口乳豬就覺得慘了肯定吃不完因為已經有點飽(吃了好幾天),還好旁邊的甜菜頭配梅汁非常酸可以讓我吃完。

甜品有第二個胃,哈哈,三個系列都試了,我當然是酸甜的熱帶系列,外面是一個青椰子凍糕做成的球狀,裡面放滿了水果和菠蘿雪芭,美啊。巧克力系列實在太膩了,還搭配一個喝的漱口可想言之是多膩,我無法接受,適合巧克力中毒者。栗子系列沒巧克力這麼膩,比較容易入口。

最後有茶或咖啡,和小甜點,喝茶也幫不了飽了幾天的我,小甜點又是巧克力,看看就好。

是整體感覺不錯的西餐,沒有特別棒。
